Charlie Chaplin Museum to Open:  Switzerland Tourism has announced the opening of the Charlie Chaplin Museum will take place on 17 April 2016 at the onset of the European spring, Chaplin’s World by Grévin will provide visitors the world’s first insight into the professional and personal life of the man himself.

Located in Vevey on the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage Lavaux vineyard terraces along the Swiss Riviera, Manoir de Ban was the former private family residence of Charlie Chaplin for the last 25 years of his life. Today, Chaplin’s World by Grévin has transformed the run-down manor into an elegant world-class venue with reception areas, a restaurant, boutique and terrace, an all-new Hollywood style studio and an expansive interactive exhibition and park covering more than 60,000m².

Charlot © Chaplin's World.jpegDirector of Switzerland Tourism, Mark Wettstein “ says It is much more than a museum, “Charlie Chaplin specifically chose to reside in this 18th century old manor in Vevey not only because he wanted a normal life for his family away from media attention, but equally so, he was thoroughly captivated by the tranquil and pristine setting of the lake and mountainous backdrop. With the opening of this museum, his fans near and far will finally get to see, admire and remember him for his work, life and everything in between.”

From a tour of his restored manor through to exhibits and galleries featuring his work and multimedia presentations, the experiential journey will start at his very humble beginnings in London. Throughout the tour, visitors will have the chance to immerse themselves in sets from iconic films, visit an editing room and a movie theatre where a synopsis of the life and work of the filmmaker will screen. Visitors will also encounter more than 30 wax figures of the man other 20th century celebrities who played major roles in boosting his work and career.
